Numerous Finnish Ways
Finskogen
In the Norwegian-Swedish border region, just north of Oslo, a considerable number of Finnish farmers settled during the course of the seventeenth century. Driven by economic conditions, they eventually chose the vast and uninhabited hills to settle. They brought their own language, farming techniques, dishes, and culture with them.
As of 2009, this group of Finns has ‘merged’ into the Swedish population. However, the traces of their presence are still noticeable in numerous ways in the area now known by cultural historians as Finnskogen.
